In the first part of this session, Malcolm Preston will
pick up on what we’ve heard from Martin Broughton
and Mark Pragnell, commenting on what this means
for travel.What can we expect to happen to
consumer expenditure on travel overall? What do
consumers say they will do? What is actually
happening? He will also comment on consumer
protection and the ‘agent vs. operator vs. airline’
debate; and whether sustainability will become a
side show in a downturn?
In the second part, ABTA’s Mark Tanzer and members
of ABTA’s Board will give their thoughts on how
Members need to adapt and innovate their
businesses to stay afloat in the new type of
marketplace that is beginning to emerge. In
conversation with Jeremy Vine, they will also give an
insight into their vision for ABTA’s future and its
relevance in dealing with the issues that its
Members will be facing going forward.
