Our Headline Sponsors
AllClear
Bishopscourt Group is delighted to promote Its flagship brand, AllClear Travel Insurance, As a headline sponsor of the 2008 Travel
Convention.
“We believe our market-leading product allows medicallyimpaired
travellers, who often cannot get cover elsewhere, to
take a holiday with peace of mind” says Bishopscourt’s Group
MD, Chris Wacey. “Also, at a time when travel agents are under
pressure from all sides because of adverse economic
developments and increasing regulatory constraints, AllClear
helps to ensure agents don’t lose a sale because they can’t offer
full insurance cover to a customer.”
Chris Wacey sees the advantages of having such a high profile.
“The Convention will allow us to talk to agents and other travel professionals about how we can best help them. As members of
ABTA’s Travel Industry Partner Scheme, we have a great
appreciation of the work carried out by ABTA and their innovative
and hard-working members over the years.”
He added “The Travel Convention is invariably well-run and highprofile.
As such it will give the AllClear team many opportunities
to listen to prominent speakers and lively debate, as well as talk
to other delegates.”

Cosmos
Cosmos has announced that it will be a Headline Sponsor at this year’s Travel Convention. Trade Promotions Manager of the Cosmos Group, Vickie O’Hare explained there were a number of reasons behind the decision.
“We are delighted to be a headline sponsor at The Travel Convention this year. It is important for us to meet with as many travel industry colleagues as we can in a short space of time and the Convention allows us to do that. Listening to prominent industry speakers combined with the many networking opportunities put together by the organisers, has proved that this is one of the events of the year that we cannot afford to miss!
Gran Canaria is a big destination for the whole Cosmos Group and a great destination to host such a huge event. Meloneras is a new and developing resort boasting a prime location, overlooking the ocean with first class hotels—so we shall be showcasing our properties as well!”
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines
Fred. Olsen, for the 4th consecutive year, has confirmed it will be a major sponsor. Lol Nichols, General Sales Manager, said the company is keen to be involved in this way because of the importance of maintaining a high profile. “The Travel Convention is the most important annual event for the UK travel industry, with a varied mix of delegates so it makes it worthwhile for even a smaller company like Fred. Olsen to become a major sponsor.”
The company will be sponsoring travel agents to go to the Convention. “These are people we wouldn’t normally have much contact with, so it will be good to spend time with them.” The Convention also provides an excellent networking forum.
“We always find the Talk Zone hugely beneficial as we get to meet a lot of agents as well as retail and supply partners. We find that as soon as the appointment system’s set up, we’re very quickly oversubscribed.”
Sponsoring The Travel Convention also gives Fred. Olsen a chance to increase the profile of the cruise sector as a whole. “We want to see cruise high on the agenda and being a headline sponsor is a way of promoting the cruise sector as a major part of the travel industry.”

Lopesan Hotel Group
To celebrate the close historic association between Gran Canaria and the UK, Lopesan Hotels has agreed to be a Headline Sponsor. Zoilo Aleman, Congress & Incentive Manager, explained that The Travel Convention will also provide a good opportunity for Lopesan to show off its new property due to open in early 2009, the Meloneras Oasis Resort. “The new Hotel will be in front of the Dunes and is African in style. It will be very high quality, beautifully decorated and will represent the professionalism of the company as a whole.” Although the new Hotel won’t be open in time for the Convention, visits to the property will be arranged.
Zoilo is enthusiastic about working with The Travel Convention. “This is not just about business, it’s also about the historic connections between our two countries. The UK market is extremely important to Gran Canaria, and we have a close relationship with the English who visit the island. We are so happy to welcome ABTA and are proud to be connected with The Travel Convention. When delegates are here, I guarantee we’ll give them the best service—however, this isn’t special treatment, rather the way we treat all of our customers! This is a great opportunity for us to reach the British market and we will be very happy to welcome you in October.”
