| 2. The Generation Game - If you had access to 20,000 Gen Yers what would your company most like to ask them? Understanding the consumer behaviour of the different generational groups is vital to your company’s success. These days, there are distinct patterns of behaviour between the Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y. All three groups have different needs, interests, ways of communicating and ways of buying. And each is a mystery to the other! Generation Yers – born between 1978 and 1998 – are found to be the most educated, affluent, assertive and civic minded generation in history. They’re the 'digital natives' who’ve been brought up with the internet, DVD, MP3s, SMS and MMS. They’ve never had to memorise a phone number, let alone get up off the sofa to change channels!
