ATOL Explained: How Will The New Levy Affect You?Following the announcement in October by Transport Minister Jim FitzPatrick, that Air Travel Organiser Licence [ATOL] bonds will be replaced with a £1 levy from 1 April 2008, Mike Monk, ABTA’s Head of Financial Services will chair an essential and practical masterclass ATOL Explained: How will the new levy affect you? David Moesli and a colleague from the CAA will help Mike explore the implications of the levy on businesses at The Travel Convention in Tenerife on Thursday 29 November.
Although the new method of providing protection does not cover all pre-arranged travel, the new scheme should simplify the protection process for travel companies who currently hold – or plan to hold - an ATOL. However, companies will not yet know how to implement the new charge and what the transitional arrangements will be. Answers to questions such as ‘Can I recharge the levy to customers?’ ‘How do I pay the levy to the CAA?’ ‘What do I need to show on my invoices?’ and ‘How does this affect travel agents?’ will all be fully discussed. You can post your questions prior to the ATOL master class on the Convention Forum, CLICK HERE to view comments posted on the forum so far or to sign up for interactive use.
